The Board of Directors adopted this list of what constitutes a make-up at its October 2009 meeting and confirmed the list at its August 2011 meeting.

A member who is absent from a meeting may receive credit for attendance if he/she completes a make-up within two weeks before and after the missed meeting. The following will be accepted as make-ups:

With credit for the missed meal:

  • If the member attends another club’s meeting and pays for a meal
  • If the member attends a Rotary International convention, District training, or a District conference, for which he/she is not reimbursed

With no credit for the missed meal:

  • If the member attends a board meeting
  • If the member participates in a fundraising activity (casino, compost sale, etc.)
  • If the member completes an on-line make-up meeting at www.rotary.org
  • If the member attends a Rotary International convention, District training, or a District conference, for which he/she is reimbursed

A special provision is also made for members who undertake project or program work overseas on behalf of the club, District 5370 or Rotary International. The member will receive one make-up credit for every day the member is involved in the project or program. The usual two-weeks time limit before or after the missed meeting will be waived. The member will not receive a credit for meals missed.
