OFSS Spotlight by Jimmy Morrison, Community Relations Supervisor

To raise $225,000 through our 2012 Capital Campaign, Going the Extra Mile with Operation Friendship Seniors Society.  This campaign would allow us to get four new vehicles for Operation Friendship Seniors Society.  It is our goal to purchase:

-Two new Helping Hands Vans, which would enable us to help maintain the independence of seniors in need by providin basic services, as time and space permit.
-A Cube Van that would be used daily for the pick-up of food and donations.
-A Passenger Bus, which would allow our Recreation Coordinator the opportunity to plan more outings for our seniors.

OFSS McCauley Seniors' Drop-in Centre

At the heart of OFSS is the McCauley Seniors' Drop-in Centre.  Seniors find a safe gathering place where they can socialize, develop friendships, volunteer and become part of the community.  The Drop-in provides free nourishing meals, seven days a week.  Last year, the Drop-in served more than 98,900 meals to our seniors.  The Drop-in also offers recreation and wellness activities that are planned in addition to the meal program.  Recreation opportunities include fun & fitness, outings [i.e. museums, fishing trips, sport or cultural events], ceramics, entertainers, bingo, computer games, sing-alongs, swimming and even pet visits.  All services and activities are offered to our seniors free of charge.  The Drop-in relys heavily on donations from individuals, groups and organizations to be able to continue to provide these types of services, free of charge for our seniors.

If you would like to donate or learn more about our work, please feel free to contact me.
