LAST WEEK IN ROTARY
Dr. Stephanie Urchick Joined Our Breakfast

Last Thursday we had the pleasure of welcoming Dr. Stephanie Urchick to our Club breakfast. Stephanie spoke to us about the new Rotary Strategic Plan and how to key components - International and the Foundation - decided to create a plan together. They listened to many many Clubs throughout hte process. They took in millions of pieces - a proudly grass roots initiative.

Stephanie reported that they ended up with a joint vision statement - tested it, received feedback - and landed on the current vision statement:

“Together, we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change — across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.”

The strategic plan will be a series of initiatives rooted in four priorities.

Four Priorities
  1. Expand our reach (other ways of engaging people in rotary and different models of rotary clubs)
  2. Enhance Participant Engagement (how to enhance the Rotary experience and meet the expectations)
  3. Increasing our Impact (initiatives that have real impact - like the polio initiative. Also need to get better at measuring our impact)
  4. Increasing our ability to adapt (better at making quicker decisions, looking at peoples skill sets and utilizing them more effectively)
These are actions to move us into the future that will look different and will be different. There are many opportunities to make an impact. and Stephanie shared how eager they are for change so that we can impact our world.  There is so much to be done. It is exciting!

BIKE DONATIONS NEEDED!

A few months ago, a former Rotary member requested some help for someone she knew - and our Club stepped up! While the family is well on its way to being healthier and stronger, a new new chance to help has come up ... bicycles!

This is what they need:
  1. A bicycle for an 8 year old son. He has long legs so a medium size bike would work.  17”
  2. A bicycle for mom. She is 5 foot 4 inches and would probably like a “town” bike or a light mountain bike. She could use a 17” or 19” frame.
So think about what bicycles you have been meaning to  send to recycle and see if that might work for this family!

THANK YOU ROTARIANS!

If you have a bike to donate, please contact Wendy Andrews and she can help make the exchange happen.
