WE had a great virtual meeting on the morning of Feb 9 2022. There were 13 people on my screen including our speaker Cherise Frederick. Lorne gave a brief update on our Mozambique scholol project. There was waater damage in the washrooms in one of our schools and we sent some funds toMmozambique for emergency repairs. Plans are underway for a Thursday night Pub night at the Faculty club. Stay tuned for more information. Tony will be participating in the “Coldest Night” fundraiser again this year. He will be camping out on Feb 26. Stay tuned for more information. Our speaker this week was Cherise Frederick. Cherise is a pediatric nurse with the Stollery Hospital. Cherise gave us a very informative and frank glimpse into what it is like to be a nurse in Alberta during Covid. She talked about; - The impact on staffing and workload n her hospital.
- The impact of Covid measures on patient care and patient experience
- The stress and exhaustion that she and her co- workers are experiencing
- Medical professionals that are leaving the province and/or the profession
- The treatment of nursing staff by AHS and the provincial government
