We had a successful dinner meeting at the University Club on Thursday evening. I counted 12 people at the dinner table. Our incoming president, Judy Wilson, thanked our past president Cindy Davies and our sooon to be past president, Elizabeth Bonkink for all that they did for our Club during the Covid times. She then presented them each a bouquet of Flowers. Elizabeth reported that the Club will be donating $500 on behalf of each member to a charity of their choice, Stephen’s Hope is a choice you could make Gary Smith reported that the Chrome Books we purchased for his school have now been delivered. There are plans in the works for us to visit the school. Lorne Parker gave us an update on Stephens school construction projects in Mozambique. Our speaker this week was Mark Hughes. Mark is the founder of Sintra Engineering. Sintra Engineering is one of the first and one of the largest Canadian forensic engineering companies .He explained what forensic engineering is (ie figuring out why bad stuff happens for litigation purposes) how he got started in that area and how he grew his business. Mark was a very knowledgeable and entertaining speaker. |
