We held our meeting virtually again on the morning of March 16, 2022 I counted 7 Rotarians (including our guest Rotaractor Ramsha Phulpolo) plus our guest speaker Judy Toews We will be Moving to in person meetings. The meetings will be held Thursday evenings. With the move to in person meetings we are hoping to increase our attendance. To further encourage attendance we would like to offer interesting speakers. If you know of someone who would be an interesting speaker for our group please let Elizabeth know. Ramshu remined everyone about the Rotraract fundraiser event scheduled for today. I am sure you could still get tickets if you try. Unfortunately their 50/50 was sold out when I tried to buy tickes. Stevens Hope has charitable statusJ]] Our speaker this week was Judy Toews. Judy is the principal of Prince Charles School (and Gary’s boss). Prince Charles School offers customised education program for indigenous students. Judy thanked our Club for the school lunches we have provided, the Christmas hampers we provided and the donation we are providing to enable the school to purchase Chrome Books for it’s Cree language program Judy gave a very interesting, impassioned, informative and important presentation. Judy talked about her childhood growing up as a Metis child in poverty and coping with the Child welfare system. She described the difficulties she faced and related them to the programs, policies and objects at Prince Charles School that try to address and assist their students with those challenges. This was a very important presentation. It is unfortunate we could not have more people present to hear what Judy had to say. She is making an important difference in our City |
