Another great virtual meeting this week. I counted 13 members plus our guest on my screen. Unfortunately our speaker was unable to attend the meeting. Hopefully we will be able to reschedule him for another meeting. This was the first day that Albertans were allowed to return to their gym to exercise without an individual trainer. David Keam was back at the gym and he joined us from there. Judy and Cindy gave us an update on Agnes medical journey. They scared us with stories of how the medical staff made assumptions unfounded assumptions about Agnes just because of her age. Turns our systemic ageism is a real thing. Pat reported that 200 lunches were delivered to Lauderdale School. Our Club has purchased, packaged and delivered 1400 lunches to schools this year. This is a great project and we need to extend our thanks to the Club member who are doing the heavy lifting to make this happen. We had an extended discussion about our scholarship awards. WE did not award a scholarship last year but we will rework the criteria, find the money that was paid to EPSB in anticipation of the scholarship award last year and proceed. For the first time this year we were joined by a guest and prospective member , Matt Baranowski from PCL. Matt recently moved to Edmonton from Winnipeg and is looking to join a Rotary Club. He would reduce our average age significantly. |
