We had a great, if only lightly attended meeting on Wednesday morning. Elizabeth asked that members advise her if they will be attending our changeover party on July 10 at the Parkland Airport. It sounds like a great event and one of our first in person opportunities. There were 5 members who came out to participate in the neighbourhood Clean up on Saturday. From all reports it was fun and we had good community support. We will do it again. Deb Jack has resigned as our incoming president. That is unfortunate, she would have been fantastic! Our speaker this week was Wendy McDonald from Inclusion Alberta and the Rotary Employment project. She talked about how Covid has impacted their efforts and reminded us how important it is to normalise life experiencefor persons with developmental disabilities She talked about how important employment is to a person’s self-confidence and general well-being. Her organisation works with organisations that are interested in employing persons with developmental disabilities. They provide dedicated and loyal employees that contribute to bottom line. They are not just “a make work project”.
