Major Achievements of the

This Club is not only active overseas; it is instrumental in building the Millwoods Rotary Park. The construction is underway for the Viewpoint Recreational Area at a cost of $20,000 to be matched by the city. A further commitment is for a playground as part of this water park at an added cost of $60,000 - $80,000 ($40,000 to be donated by the Mill- woods Club).

Other note-worthy achievements of our Club:

1. This Club was the first to accept 4 outstanding female members (a first in 84 years of the history of Rotary International).

2. A visitation program with the Sheperd's Care Residence by its membership and hosting social functions at the premises.

3. This Club was also instrumental in the world wide campaign of Polio Plus and donated liberally. We have also donated to Operation Eyesight headed by Dr. Jennings.

4. Contributed to Rehabilitation Units for Muscular Dystrophy Association.

5. Just donated a cold laser equipment for treatment of open wounds for the Grey Nuns Hospital at an estimated cost of $5,000. Rotary is not only an adult association. We do not neglect our youth. Our Club has a record that in spite of being small, it sponsored a Grade 11 student to New Zealand for 1 year and received a Grade 12 student from Holland to undertake studies at J. Percy Page and travel extensively in western Canada during the 1988- 89 year. This year, 1989-90, we have sent Dawn Lahti, a grade 11 student to Holland. In turn, we have received Maria Gomes, a Grade 11 student from Brazil to study at J. Percy Page. We are also sponsoring a Grade 11 student to go to Australia for a year and taking a student from a Third World Country.
