First, thank you for the Akron Rotary’s interest in volunteering for this event.

Second, for our food distribution volunteers we asked that they arrive between 7:30am and 8am.  We ask that volunteers park across the street in our gravel lot so that there is room for the clients to park.   The entrance that morning is the solid door, when facing the building, to the left of the “window” door.  Pull the door open and you will be walking into our multi-purpose room (gym).  Once in the multi-purpose room you can ask any individual to point out Julie, our Pantry & Building Manager, or ask for me and we will share the volunteer instructions for that day.

Typically volunteers are assisting with loading approximately 16 tables of miscellaneous food items that need to be broken down into smaller portions for distribution.  At 9am the clients enter the multi-purpose room and stop by each table for their food item.  Volunteers inform the clients how many food items from that table they are entitled and the volunteer keeps the table stacked with the items.  We also have volunteers assist our clients when they transport our carts to their cars and the volunteer brings the empty cart back into our building for the next client to use.  The actual food distribution runs from 9am to 11am or until we run out of food.  Then volunteers help break down tables, left over food items are stacked into one area and clean-up is completed.

If you have any questions regarding this distribution please do not hesitate to contact me.  We look forward to meeting the Akron Rotarians on March 15th.

Remember to wear comfortable shoes since you will be on your feet most of the time.

Sincerely,

Colleen McMahoncid:image001.jpg@01CE15B6.B37A2200
