November 5, 2017

Good evening fellow Rotarians.  Sally, Michelle and I got back home this afternoon fresh off a wonderful day of learning at the Fall Leadership Learning and Development Assembly in Edmonton.  Saturday morning was especially worthwhile and we have come back with many ideas to share on how to make our club better and improve the Rotary experience for our members and our community.  Stay tuned for some updates.

As most of you know every month has a different theme in Rotary.  For November that theme is The Rotary Foundation.  Our Foundation is at the heart of Rotary and we hope to provide you with information and updates on how the Foundation can help you and how you can help the Foundation.

November 10, 2017 will be a special meeting for us as we will welcome Interact president Hanna Minifie who will be running the show for the day.  Hanna will bring us up to date on what Interact is up to and what we can do to help ensure their success.  We hope to have a couple videos to share about Interact and our Rotary Foundation.  Please join us at the curling rink, come early and enjoy some fellowship before the meeting starts.

Calendar of Events:

November 8, 2017 – Hockey Pool Prize Night at Boston Pizza.

November 16, 2017 – Italian Night:

Giuseppe Judge and Mario Mowat will be our hosts for a great night of fellowship and fun.  Italian night is an evening to celebrate our 2016-17 exchange student Meghan Mazeros and her year in Italy.  Format will be an Italian themed potluck dinner, doors open at 5:00, dinner will be at 6:00, with entertainment and a presentation to follow.  This is a family friendly event, please bring your spouse, children, parents, brothers, sisters or even your friends as we all learn about a year in the life of an exchange student. Rotary Fact of the Week:

What is EREY?  The Every Rotarian Every Year (EREY) initiative asks every Rotarian to support The Rotary Foundation every year.  This can be accomplished online via My Rotary or just search for The Rotary Foundation and the "Give Now" box.   A goal which many set for themselves is US$100 per year (about C$.35 per day).  It may be more or it may be less.  Let's try for 100% of our club to give something.

Quote of the Week:

Rotarian Treacy Duerfeldt asks, If two-thirds of the world – about four
billion people – can live on $2 per day, then shouldn’t the rest give at least that much?

Have a wonderful week!  I look forward to seeing you all next Friday at the curling rink.

Yours in Rotary Service

Tim
