What does $6 dollars a day buy, read on...

-----Original Message------ From: Eric Blackburn To: Tiger Office Plus Cc: Dennis Armitage Subject: Wkf project update Sent: Sep 24, 2009 4:07 PM Hi George, another long day in the jungles of Nicaragua. The sewing center and a little house for the teacher are being built simutaneously in the village of Cangrejo. We have 7 full time people working on site. Each worker gets paid $6. per day along with meals (rice, beans, plantains and chicken). It doesn't sound like a lot but they are happy to be building the center and still be able to provide for their famlies. On this Monday coming up we need to haul 1000 bricks from nearby Collado where they are being made on site. We also need to bring in another shipment of cement and more roofing. The ceiling is going to be a bit higher than the initial design to allow for heat to escape through vents. We also plan to intall a ceramic floor to really make for a classy sewing center with pride. At some point soon we could use the second installment of funds to keep the momentum going. We are thankfully within the budget margins which is a miracle accomplishment in Nicaragua. Also the lack of rain thus far this rainy season has worked to our advantage during construction phase, but the dryness is not good for the countries failing crops. 2010 is going to be a hard year for an already impoverished nation. Meanwhile please pass on warmest regards to all kindred spirits at Dawson Sunrise Rotary. And always a graceful gracias to all for going the distance to make it happen. PS: FYI there is a new update report of the project posted at the www.worldkidsfoundation.org website. Take care for now Eric Blackburn WKF-Nicaraguan Project Director San Juan Del Sur
