Hurricane Harvey Recovery Efforts

In addition to the significant personal efforts of Skyliners (including mucking houses through Disaster Aid), Rotary Skyline members met on Sunday, Sept. 10 to determine what our collective response as a club, and determined that Rotary Skyline is adopting two families which we will profoundly impact the recovery of their lives. We will help meet the families' immediate needs, but will also pour into their lives connecting with the resources and walking along side them as they rebuild. We will help with housing and transportation; we will assist in parents' jobs and kids settling into new school year; Rotary Skyline will ensure at least two Houston families have every ability to more than get back on their feet!

We intend to manage the adoption as a club, but will partner with other organizations and individuals to meet the needs of our adopted families once our needs assessment is complete.

We are using the Airbnb platform to match families with hosts who are willing to open up their spaces for survivors who have nowhere else to go through utilizing our trusted communities. We believe that this is a better housing situation than any other option and has the opportunity to change the lives of others as well as the fabric of Houston society.
