Craig Holman, who has participated in youth activities through Rotary International, joined our group this past Wednesday. He works at Sam's Club and is looking forward to being active with us. Please introduce yourself and get to know Craig!
Wathina Porter inspired us with her updates on the expanded activities at the Indian Center here in Lincoln. They have programing for Youth, Elder Lunches, a Wellbriety support group (their version of AA), radiant boxing (8 to 18 year olds), dancing and many other gatherings for the community. On October 17th they are inviting the whole community to a Powwow at the center (1100 Military Road) where there will be dancing - which Wahina assures us is good “medicine”. Another activity on the horizon is planting 50 trees on the grounds that will expand their traditional gardening efforts. A new 3 year plan for the center is in the works. Our foundation gave them a check to further their programs.
Lincoln East Rotary will again be participating in the dictionary give away to 3rd graders.
This Tuesday, September 29, please join us at St Paul's United Methodist Church, 11th and N, to put bookplates in the dictionaries and sort and distribute to people to deliver.
We will gather at 5:30 pm. Remember: Many hands make light work!
We encourage Rotarians to attend the Orange Shirt Day Awareness Walk.
