Mark Moore - Associate Director & Event & Facility Services
Lied Center for Performing Arts
Mark Moore is the Associate Director of Event and Facility Services at the Lied Center for Performing Arts. Another title he holds is the COVID Compliance Officer. He works with staff in all aspects of the building and mostly on the patron experience. The security and safety is the ever changing part of this facility. During COVID, he wrote the re-opening procedures and policies for the Lied. This work was shared with theaters across the country and the Lied was the first theater in the country to re-open. His changes at the Lied are keeping the staff, performers, and guests safe from not only a soft target threat but a health threat. This coordination unifies common functions and provides reliable two-way communication. Time is also spent in logistical support in outreach, marketing, development and technical aspects. This position is also responsible for the Lied calendar and all scheduling inquires.
Mark has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theatre and Dance from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with post-graduation work in Arts Management.
Alfred “Al” Williams Burdick was born on November 20, 1943, in Madison, Tennessee, and fell asleep on March 18, 2023, in Lincoln, Nebraska, to await the second coming of Christ, his lifelong Friend.
His wife, Doris Stickle Burdick, and his two children, Janene and Brent, were at his side to share last words of love.
In retirement, Al remained active as a volunteer at College View Church of Seventh-day Adventists of which he was a member, as a volunteer and board member at Christian Record Services for the Blind, and in the Lincoln East Rotary Club where he worked closely with the Rotary Nutrition Project in Zambia, Africa.
Before retirement, he was treasurer of AdventSource on the campus of Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska. Prior to moving to Lincoln in 2000, he marketed printing for the College Press on the campus of Southern Adventist University in Collegedale, Tennessee. Before that, he chaired the business department of Korean Union College in Seoul, Korea, for five years, 1978-83. From 1975-78 he managed the finances of Mount Pisgah Academy in Candler, North Carolina. Between his discharge from two years of military service, stationed in Germany, and the move to North Carolina, he was director of the computing center at Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan, completed his MBA, and worked in the marketing field. He had earned his B.S. degree there in 1966 and was immediately employed by Andrews University.
Each member of his family was dear to his heart. Janene Joy Burdick (married to Jack Burdick) lives in Calimesa, California. In their family are John Alfred, Joy Marie, Joshua Edward, and Jillian Elizabeth. Brent Burnell Burdick (married to Angela Balfour) lives in Laurel, Maryland, with their two daughters, Abigayle Anne and Emily Rose. He will also be missed by hundreds of friends.
Plans for a memorial service when more family members can be present will be announced sometime in the future.
Memorial gifts may be directed to the Lincoln East Rotary Foundation Zambia Project or to Christian Record Services for the Blind.
Lyle gave us a Brief History of the Past 150 Years leading to present day issues between Israel and Palestine. All trade use to travel from Africa or Europe through the land that Israel now occupies during the time that the British controlled it. The people that lived in this area before the war of 1967 were either Arab or Jewish. The war of 1967 only lasted seven days.
The West Bank area was former a British-mandated (1920-1947) territory of Palestine which is west of the Jordan River. From 1949 to 1988 it was part of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, but occupied from 1967 by Israel. The territory, excluding East Jerusalem, is also known within Israel by its biblical names, Judea and Samaria.

How often has your child or grandchild come to you, either angry or with tear filled eyes saying, “It’s not fair!” The experience leading up to that declaration arose from many various circumstances. And the truth is that in all probability the impact of the event was not fair to the child. And your response, more than likely was, “Life is not fair. You’ll need to get used to it.”
