Topher has been involved in the Substance Use and Mental Health field since 1975, as a volunteer, counselor, legal counsel, development director, Board member and Chief Executive Officer. Since 2000, Topher has served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of CenterPointe, a behavioral health organization that provides crisis response, treatment, rehabilitation and housing services for persons with co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders, with service locations in Lincoln and Omaha, NE.
Dale Lloyd’s funeral today, had a wonderful message about Dale winning the war, not the battle in Korea, or his battle with cancer, but the war between good and evil, right and wrong, loss and redemption. I know, to a person, we are so blessed to have had him in our lives and will miss him.
This Memorial Day weekend, many of our club members helped erect flagpoles, raise flags, and then lower the flags and deconstruct the display at the Veterans Memorial Garden. Thanks to those who were able to help!

Our speaker, a Club 14 member, is Topher Hansen. Topher is the executive director and CEO of Centerpointe, an organization that works with persons suffering from a dual diagnosis of mental health issues as well as addiction. In a time of pandemic, I think the information he will share with us could be very interesting. Join us by noon next Wednesday.
Lincoln East Rotary is having an outdoor meeting on June 10th. This will be in Antelope Park, just to the North of the Veterans Memorial Garden. There is a shelter there, with some picnic table seating, but bring a chair to properly socially distance and actually see each other in person. No meal is planned, however we have a lot of catching up to do for Happy Dollars! The board will meet at the same location at 10:30.
We are looking for a couple of people to step up and assist the Sergeant at Arms this next year. It takes a few minutes to set up prior to and take down equipment after each meeting. Let Sue or Gene know if you can spare a few minutes! Also, Barry would like to have an assistant to help with our membership drives. This is something we all need to work on, but he needs some help spearheading this.
Lincoln East Rotary Club Members need to consider adding their spouses to our Rotary Club. Spousal memberships run just $125 annually and can be prorated according to the month they join! Dale B. Lloyd was born May 31, 1929 in Beatrice, NE to Jess and Grace (Jurgens) Lloyd. Dale passed away on May 22, 2020. Dale was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran having served as a sergeant in the Korean War. He held to his Marine Motto, Semper Fideles – “Always Faithful” – to God, family, Country and friends. He was a man of highest character, loyal and respected by many family and friends.
Dale was employed by Goodyear for 30 years and had his retirement from there. He loved fishing, hunting, golf, travel (saw all 50 states, most of western Europe and Canada), and going to Husker football games – both home and away. He enjoyed reading, playing cards with friends, and weekly breakfasts with friends from Goodyear.
Dale has been active in membership at Faith Lutheran church, Lincoln East Rotary Club and the American Legion.
Dale jointed Lincoln Northeast Rotary Club in 1985 and was sponsored by Robert Rudell and Fred Lesston, which is now known as Lincoln East Rotary Club. He exemplified the Rotarian motto "service above self" for the past 35 years. Dale was Sargent of Arms for several years, and Chairman of the Firefighter of the Year and Police Officer of the Year recognition programs. Dale would certainly qualify for perfect attendance. He was always one of the first to volunteer for club projects such as Lincoln Parks and Recreation painting playground equipment, picnic tables or benches and was always willing to cook hotdogs for the SumFun Picnic. Dale was a true "Rotarian."
Dale is preceded in death by his parents and his only sister, Norma Towle Pederson and her husband Chuck. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marilyn (Rosenkoetter) Lloyd; sons (and their wives) Bruce and Christie Lloyd and Russ and Cindy Lloyd – all of Lincoln; five grandchildren (two with spouses) Adam (Sara Rabstejnek) Lloyd in Blue Springs, MO, Scott Lloyd in Omaha, NE, Eric (Esther) Lloyd along with two great-granddaughters Izabella and Valencia in Lincoln, Jessica Lloyd in Chicago, IL., and Stefani Lloyd in Lincoln.
Funeral services were held on Friday May 29, 2020 at Faith Lutheran Church, at 1:00 pm. A private family interment was held prior to services at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to Lincoln East Rotary Club Scholarship Fund. Make checks out to Lincoln East Rotary Club Foundation and mail to 6109 South 30th Street, Lincoln, NE 68516.
It is time for you, as members of Lincoln East Rotary, to start thinking about your monthly service to the Club for 2020-21. When we return to in-person meetings we will be needing Greeters, Assistant Sargent-in-Arms, Cashiers, and Program Chairs. These will be done on a monthly basis. As we are currently doing virtual meetings, we would need someone to step up for Program Chair starting in July. We should continue to keep all of our EMT's and first responders, hospital doctors and nurses, supermarket clerks, restaurant workers laid off or furloughed and waiting for unemployment, all those who are currently unemployed, human service organizations who still are open to serve those poor/homeless/hungry, funeral home workers, churches, airline employees, hotel employees, gas station and convenience store workers.
