Joel Stoltenow - Lincoln Lutheran Family Services

Joel Stoltenow -- Lincoln Lutheran Family Services

Joel Stoltenow is the Assistant Vice President of Development at Lutheran Family Services, where he has been a part of the Development and Church Relations Team since 2017.  He oversees all frontline fundraising efforts.  "Every time I see our clients in the lobby or meet staff in the hallway, I'm reminded of the incredible impact LFS has in communities we're called to service."  Stoltenow said.  "It fires me up every day to find more resources to do more work!"

Prior to serving at LFS, he taught English and Theology as well as coached basketball at Lincoln Lutheran since 2004.  His move down from Minnesota also led to big life moves!  On the first day of school, he met fellow teacher Lindsay.  They've been married for 17 years and have two boys:  Sam (9) and Jack (5).

Joel will be speaking to Lincoln East Rotary Club about the oncoming refugee load that is expected in the next few years.
Global Health Relief Mission
Visit to Global Health Relief Mission and Celebration of Mike Carr Rotary Club Service

This week, the club opted for a refreshing outdoor meeting to break the monotony, choosing to visit the Global Health Relief Mission located at 2540 and O Street. The event, hosted by Joseph Williams, provided a unique setting for the club members to gather.

The Global Health Relief Mission is a non-profit organization dedicated to donating medical equipment to the underprivileged and disabled. The organization has been actively involved in supporting health services both within and outside the USA. They are currently in the process of constructing a hospital in Nigeria, aiming to enhance healthcare accessibility for vulnerable communities. The meeting also honored the life and service of Mike Carr, a dedicated member of the Rotary community. Mike's family, including his wife Kathy Carr and daughter, graced the occasion, allowing the club to celebrate his contributions. The club toured the warehouse to see the medical supplies and had a taste of Nigerian cuisine enriched with Jollof Rice, Plantin and Fried Chicken!

Please continue to keep Sue Schuerman in your prayers.  Sue has been moved to Old Cheney Rehabilitation located at 5431 S. 16th Street, Lincoln, NE.  Sue currently has COVID, so please do not go and visit.  Once I hear that she is cleared for visitors, I will let you know.  She has a long ways to go.  Her speech is better, but it is difficult for her to walk.

Please keep all our Rotarians around the world in your prayers that may be ill, suffering because of war, hunger, health or other problems.
If you know of any of our members you would like for us to mention who are ill or need prayer, please let Minnie know and we will put it in the SPOKE.
