March 20, 2024

Ryan Sothan, Outreach Coordinator

As Outreach Coordinator within the Nebraska Attorney General’s Office, Ryan has statewide responsibility for developing and implementing community-based initiatives for educating Nebraskans in the areas of consumer fraud, elder financial abuse, predatory and illegal business practices, identity theft, and Internet safety.  Educational outreach services are extended to an average of 20,000 Nebraskans annually through presentations to groups of all sizes across the state and at numerous expositions and fairs including the Nebraska State Fair.  Ryan’s years of service within the Attorney General’s Offices spans the past three administrations.  He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. In his spare time he works hard at elevating a high-handicapper’s bad golf game into an art form.

Board Meeting

Board Meeting - March 20, 2024

10:45 am - The Garage

April 3 -- Peoples City Mission Project

April 3 -- Peoples City Mission Project

You will be serving meals at the Peoples City Mission on April 3, 2024.  Please read carefully the instructions listed below and get signed up as soon as possible if you are planning to help.

Here are the instructions for Meal Serving:
  • We are located at 110 Q St Lincoln, NE 68508. Park in front of the shelter. The front door faces south, and is always locked, so ring the doorbell on the sidewall and someone will buzz you in.
  • Upon entrance use the kiosk to sign in. Please make sure to sign in and sign out when you leave.
  • For safety reasons, volunteers must wear close-toed shoes, shirts with sleeves (t-shirt or long sleeve), and long pants, or shorts that are to the knees.
  • Staff will get you back to the kitchen, where they will have you wash your hands, and put on a hairnet and apron. If you would rather not wear a hairnet, a ball cap/hat is acceptable in replacement of a hairnet.

Some talking points with guests:
  • Say hello and introduce yourself. Be kind, friendly and respectful.
  • Ask for their name, and what they'd like to be called (maybe they have a nickname they'd rather go by).
  • What's a favorite meal they like to have – (other types of favorite things)
  • Ask if they have anything planned for the day, or what they like to do during the day.
  • If they aren't engaging in conversation, that's okay, give them some space and say it was nice to meet them and move to a different person or table.
