Today we heard from Bruce Trautwein, President of the local VA Veteran's Advisory Group and Marie Maret. The Veterans Advisory Group of Lincoln meets in the old VA hospital. When the VA hospital (clinic) was located there they had a much closer communication, but since the new VA Clinic is in it's new building it is a bit harder to communicate. This group does a lot of outreach projects.
We will be visiting three different locations in the next few weeks. Please let us know your preference so we can make an informed final decision regarding our new meeting location. We will be visiting each of these locations to see how we like the set up and if it meets our needs. They are as follows:
December 1: Hy-Vee Store - 1601 North 84th Street
Thank you for your input on these locations. Looking forward to having you visit us and hearing some excellent programs.
Olive oil, a cooking necessity found in pantries the world over, has long been known as a helpful cooking aid, a flavorful ingredient boost and a staple of a healthy Mediterranean diet. Used for cooking and seasoning.
Thanks to everyone we collected $800.00 for the Peoples City Mission and the Lincoln East Rotary Foundation is giving $200.00, which will bring out total to $1,000 for our Thanksgiving outreach.
Since we are meeting in person make sure you have your "Happy Dollars" ready. For those who still want to contribute if you are unable to attend, please send your check to Dick Cumming.
Thanks go to the following for "Happy Dollars" on November 17th -- Duane Tappe, Al Burdick, Wayne Casper, Gordon Bair, Barry Stelk, Paul Horton, Dennis Duckworth, Betty Kruger, Tom Mortimer, Greg Schansse, Marie Maret (Speaker), and Jerry Christensen
“My to-do list for today: Count my blessings, Practice kindness, Let go of what I can’t control, Listen to my heart, Be productive yet calm, Just breathe.”
Please keep our Rotarians locally and around the world in our prayers and thoughts as many of them may have struggles that we don't know about.
Even with the vaccine, we continue to keep all of our teachers, school officials, and students, EMT's and first responders, hospital doctors and nurses, supermarket clerks, restaurant workers laid off or furloughed and waiting for unemployment, all those who are currently unemployed, human service organizations who still are open to serve those poor/homeless/hungry, funeral home workers, churches, airline employees, hotel employees, gas station and convenience store workers.
If you know of any of our members you would like for us to mention who are ill or need prayer, please let Greg know and we will put it in the SPOKE.
