Lincoln East Rotary Club held an Orientation meeting with six new members who will be joining our club.  Dick Cumming gave us an overview of “What Is Rotary?” which included information about how Rotary got started back in 1905.  That today we have 1.4 million members, 32,000 clubs in 200 countries.  Dick told us about what Rotary International, Rotary International Foundation and the local club does.  He told us about how our money we given to the Annual Fund goes into the Rotary International Foundation which is invested for three years before 50% comes back to the local districts for District grants and the other 50% goes toward global grants.  Dick shared some of the projects that Lincoln East Rotary club has done in the past and presently. 

 

Each new member then gave a five-minute talk about themselves and shared what they thought might be a way they can give back to the club through service.  These new members are:  Bette Makina, Segun Samuel Oladipo, Ibykunoluwa Eunice Salami, Mercy K. Mwape, Mercy Almaraj, and Eric Christensen.

The Installation of Officers and dinner will be held at Bethany Christian Church, 1645 N. Cotner Blvd.  Parking is on the west side of the church and you can enter into the Fellowship Hall from that side.  This event is a celebration of new members joining Rotary, new officer installation and a good time of fellowship with your fellow Rotarians.

We will be helping with the Sum Fun Picnic on July 21st.  We will need volunteers to help cook the hot dogs, cook the beans, set-up, serve the food, and clean-up afterwards.  This picnic is held at Antelope Park's Auld Pavilion.  A sign-up sheet will be forthcoming to sign up in the other areas.  Thank you for doing what Rotarians do -- "SERVE ABOVE SELF."
