President Message
This week I’d like to look at the relationship between financial support and service.  George’s wife wanted to see the movie “Pearl Harbor”.  He could have just given her some money and sent her to the theatre, but instead decided that they should go together.  George thought it was a good chick flick with some cool explosions for him.  He was struck by how willing the characters were willing to die for each other.  Before Pearl Harbor there was war in Europe.  The U.S. sent the English a lot of money to buy bullets, but money was not enough.  The English needed men to fight, so they recruited Americans to fly British planes in combat against the Germans.

Rotarian Bob Simmering and his two daughters helped the folks at First Plymouth Church package the note cards that are for sale.  First Plymouth Church is raising funds for the canal project by selling these note cards.  You can see Chuck Erickson, who will be selling them at our meetings.

Lincoln East Rotary Club Blood Drive Proposal
LINCOLN EAST ROTARY CLUB BLOOD DRIVE UPDATE:

Lincoln East Rotary Club is proceeding with a blood drive.  The other three Lincoln Club Presidents have been approached with the idea of their Clubs joining in to make it a 4-club effort and their response has been positive.  They will put the idea to their Boards and Committees.  Hopefully we will get their formal responses before month end.  Once the other Clbs are on board (or not) we will announce a "final date" by which time all donations should have been made and when we will tally the donor count.

Proposal:

WHAT?

Blood Drive to get the four Lincoln Rotary Club members and their spouses and adult children to donate a pint of their blood. The Lincoln East Rotary Club has committed to doing a blood drive whether we are joined by other Clubs or not. However, a combined effort would make a bigger impact, hence this outreach to the other Clubs.
