June 17, 2020 meeting will be a presentation by Lyle Schoen. Lyle's presentation is entitled, "A Volunteer Archeologist Shares His Experience from an Ancient Roman City near the Sea of Galilee." This meeting will be a virtual meeting. See information below for getting onto our Zoom meeting.
We had a very enjoyable meeting last Wednesday. We were able to make this meeting feel like our regular meetings - and it was so great to see so many of our members, to hear a few bad jokes of the day, and discuss what Rotary means to each of us! The social distancing and wearing of masks worked quite well.
While we don’t yet know when we can begin regular meetings on Wednesday’s, there have been some decisions made about the future. Our board and members at the meeting concurred that we want to continue to meet at Valentino’s. Valentino’s is unsure as to when they will re-open, but it could be as soon as July. The health department must first give them the go-ahead to open, then also how to allow organizations to meet there. Tables will be arranged differently in our meeting room, as social distancing continues, so we believe that there will be room for about 35 of us, likely in a classroom type of set up. Valentino’s will move from the buffet style, to more of a cafeteria style of food service.
Our meeting next week, on the 17th, will be a Zoom meeting. Lyle Schoen will be telling us about his participation, in the archeological dig, at the Dead Sea. The meeting ID is 889 3242 8304. The password is 672006.
Marilyn Lloyd sent us donations, in Dale’s name, for the scholarship fund. At this time we have received $970! That is nearly the amount needed to pay the first semester scholarships for this fall.
We are still looking for assistants to our membership committee, and to help the Sergeant at Arms in setting up our meeting room. Please let Sue or me know if you are willing to step up for this.

On June 10th, Outgoing President, Dennis Duckworth presented Incoming President, Sue Schuerman with the President's Pin. This was done at our outdoor meeting at Antelope Park.
Lincoln East Rotary Club presented Chuck Erickson (left) with his fifth Paul Harris Fellow and honored Jack Rosecrans (right) with a Paul Harris Fellow award. Minnie Stephens, Rotary International Foundation Chair for LERC, presented the awards to each of them. The presentations were done on June 10th at our outdoor meeting at Antelope Park. Congratulations to both of them on their Paul Harris awards.
Dale Lloyd's Memorial to the Lincoln East Rotary Club's Foundation for scholarships totalled $970.00. This will allow us to pay for two $500.00 scholarships for the first semester of the 2020-2021 school year.
At our outdoor meeting on June 10, 2020, we took in $70.00 for Polio Plus. I think everyone that was present was happy to be able to meet face-to-face or more like mask-to-mask. Yes, we have met our goal for the 2019-2020 year of $1800.00. Congratulations Lincoln East Rotary Club!
Lincoln East Rotary Club has been helping with raising and lowering 60 flags at the Veterans Memorial Garden. This year they helped just before Memorial Day with the flags. Below are a couple of photos of members of our Club helping Mike Orr and members of some VA organizations.

It is time for you, as members of Lincoln East Rotary Club, to start thinking about your monthly service to the Club for 2020-2021. When we return to in-person meetings we will be needing Greeters, Assistant Sargent-in-Arms, Cashiers, and Program Chairs. These will be done on a monthly basis. As we are currently doing virtual/outdoor meetings, we need someone to step up for Program Chair starting in July. Mike Carr has been in and out of the hospital and asked that we keep him in our prayers.
Barry Stelk will need to clear up an infection that he has before having a kidney removed.
Gene and Barb Roth and Gene Frederick keep them in our prayers.
We should continue to keep all of our EMT's and first responders, hospital doctors and nurses, supermarket clerks, restaurant workers laid off or furloughed and waiting for unemployment, all those who are currently unemployed, human service organizations who still are open to serve those poor/homeless/hungry, funeral home workers, churches, airline employees, hotel employees, gas station and convenience store workers.
