President Message
Like many of you, my experience with Rotary Club began in a small town.  My first club was Kimball, population about 2,500.  After living there for 42 years, we moved to Lincoln to be close to grandkids.  Moving from a town of one stoplight, no rotary intersections and no medians on major streets was an adjustment.

Lincoln East Rotary Club Blood Drive Proposal
LINCOLN EAST ROTARY CLUB BLOOD DRIVE UPDATE:

Dick introduced Jamie Kassebaum, representative from the Community Blood Bank.  Jamie mentioned that every two seconds someone needs blood and that 1 in 7 who enter the hospital would need blood.  She said that only 37% are eligible to donate blood, but only 10% do donate.  They usually need about 1,000 units of blood per week.  The Community Blood Bank was founded over 50 years ago.  Before COVID-19 they saw about 50% of people donating, but with COVID they have had to switch their emphases.

Dick learned yesterday that Rotary Club #14 and also the Lincoln Giving Spirits Rotary Club have both decided to join the blood drive! We await the decision of Lincoln South, whose board meets tomorrow. Giving Spirits Rotary Club have jumped on the idea of making this a fundraising event and now have 4 sponsors, each pledging $5 per blood donation to the R.I. Foundation! R.I.F gets $20 per donation! Any more sponsors out there?

It was decided that we will start our drive immediately and aim to get it done by September 30th. When donating your blood you will be asked to fill in a card where you can state that your donation is part of the Lincoln East Rotary Blood Drive.

Something from the Past

These are finished benches that were done by Lincoln East Rotarians helping the City Recreation and Parks Department.  Hopefully, we can serve our community once again in January and February by doing some more painting of these benches.
