Executive Director of Southeast Nebraska Development District (SENDD)
Tom Bliss, Executive Director for the Southeast Nebraska Development District (SENDD) is a voluntary association of counties and municipalities formed under the Nebraska Interlocal Cooperation Act to identify common problems, their solutions, and to provide continuing support for efficient and effective government among its members. SENDD Membership includes the Counties (and their participating communities) of: Fillmore, Gage, Jefferson, Johnson, Lancaster, Nemaha, Otoe, Pawnee, Polk, Richardson, Saline, Saunders, Seward, Thayer, and York.
As we look toward to a better 2021, Rotary has given us a new official cause to think about when we plan projects for 2021. Rotary’s new cause is “Protecting the Environment.” Their byline states that, “Rotary’s new cause focuses on comprehensively solving specific issues that have a detrimental effect on the environment. As people of action, let’s take on projects that can make a positive, measurable, and sustainable impact on the one place we all call home.” This may give us food for thought as the vaccine becomes available and we can get together again.
Our Christmas donation will be going to the Salvation Army. We have already collected $485.00 toward our goal of $1,000.00.
However, since we are going virtually with our meetings until the first of the year you can send your donation Christmas to Wayne Casper our Foundation Treasurer. Our Christmas donation would normally be collected at our December 9th and 16th meetings. Please make your checks out to the Lincoln East Rotary Foundation, indicating in the memo line if it is for Thanksgiving or Christmas. Send them to Wayne Casper, Lincoln East Rotary Foundation Treasurer, 6109 South 30th Street, Lincoln, NE 68516.
In the past we have been able to collect $1,000 to help these agencies during the holidays.
Since we are going virtual during the month of December, you can send your Polio Plus dollars in a check made out to Lincoln East Rotary and send it to our Treasurer, Dick Cumming, 2312 S. 75th Street, Lincoln, NE 68506.

We should continue to keep all of our teachers, school officials, and students, EMT's and first responders, hospital doctors and nurses, supermarket clerks, restaurant workers laid off or furloughed and waiting for unemployment, all those who are currently unemployed, human service organizations who still are open to serve those poor/homeless/hungry, funeral home workers, churches, airline employees, hotel employees, gas station and convenience store workers.
