October 1st, Guest Speaker Shannon Castillo

Shannon Castillo from the Meadowlane Park Association shared with us on Wednesday, October 1st. Shannon is the Director of Finance and Administration for Combined Health Agency Drive as her full-time job. She grew up in Lincoln and married her high-school sweetheart. They have 3 kids who go to St John's School. She spent her summers at Meadowlane Pool as a child.

Her background in non-profit accounting is both as a CPA and in her current position, leading her to joining the board of the Meadowlane Pool Association, MPA. She took on the task of transitioning the organization into a 501c3 and is now the chair of the pool's fundraising committee.

The Meadowlane Pool Association has put together an incredible team who care deeply about both the history of this pool and the vision they have created for the future of the pool. Meadowlane Pool has been a cornerstone of northeast Lincoln for over 60 years, serving generations of families as a safe and welcoming place to swim, play, and connect. After being closed for the past three summers due to needed repairs, the Meadowlane Park Association is running a community-driven effort to reopen the pool.

With support from neighbors, local organizations, and grant partners, the project will provide multiple benefits to the surrounding neighbors and community, ensuring Meadowlane Pool continues to be a vital gathering place for years to come.
