We want to thank Lincoln East Rotarian Eric Christensen for sharing the story of his family's beginnings in rural Nebraska, their journey to Lincoln, his career with Edward Jones and more!
Eric's grandfather, P.T. Christensen, worked hard as a very young man building a transportation business from the ground up. In 1955, they moved to Holdrege, Nebraska and by 1964 success led to Speedway Transportation, Inc. The business grew to be the largest livestock hauler in the world serving Nebraska and surrounding states.
Jerry Christensen, Eric's father, worked at Speedway Transportation for many years until the sale of the business in 1998. In 1999, Jerry joined Edward Jones in Lincoln, going door to door to meet his community, fulfilling a long time dream to work as a stock broker. Jerry was very involved with his church, Christ's Place, and Royal Family Kids of Lancaster Nebraska. Jerry was also a long time Lincoln East Rotarian and former president.
Eric taught business, physical education and coached for 18 years in Minden, Nebraska. His love for the outdoors led to the start of his own lawn business while living in Kearney. Seeing the accomplishments and helping his community was always very rewarding.
In 2016, after years of thoughtful consideration, Eric was hired and joined his father's branch office at Edward Jones in Lincoln. The office is still located at 70th and Van Dorn, and he feels grateful to have the opportunity to teach and serve every day! Services offered include; Retirement Savings and Income Strategies, Business Retirement Plans, Wealth Management, Estate and Legacy Strategies, LTC, Life, and Disability Insurance and Education Savings Plans.
Eric continues to be inspired every day by his grandfather and father. His greatest enjoyment is helping people achieve their financial goals and build a legacy.
