Since becoming President I have taken to reading the The Rotarian front to back. I don’t know why I hadn’t done it before because our international magazine is award-winner and though- provoking. What is also amazing about the magazine is that it frequently talks about what clubs are doing in California, specially North California i.e. Cupertina and San Francisco.

Regardless of what club is mentioned, the activities of other clubs can provide ideas for our club.  A district in Florida packed 1.3 million lunches for children who receive free or reduced-price meals during the school year to eat over summer vacation. A club in Oregon developed window stops for families to use to prevent children from falling out of upper floor windows.  A club in Minnesota is working with students to raise money for H2O for Life, a program working for clean water in developing countries.

All these programs are inspiring to me. They remind me of what a great organization Rotary is. We are a part of this and we too do inspiring things with REACH, School of Imagination and the El Oasis orphanage. We need to continue doing great things.  We need to continue working in our community, finding who needs our help and stepping up when needed. This involves all of us.

Step up, sign up and volunteer.
