Pleasanton North Rotary's Kevin Greenlee was recognized May 18 with the Ward Garing Youth Program Award from Rotary District 5170 for his leadership of the district’s International Youth Exchange program.

Named for Ward Garing and his long-time service to Youth Exchange and Rotary, the award is reserved for Rotary members who demonstrate significant service beyond the individual club level with commitment and dedication to the youth programs of Rotary.

During ceremonies at the district’s annual conference in Alameda, District Gov. Timothy Lundell acknowledged Greenlee’s long service and dedication as a youth exchange committee member. He has been the district’s outbound youth exchange coordinator since 2011.  In Pleasanton alone, he has coordinated year-long exchanges of more than 20 high school students from outside the U.S. to Pleasanton and from Pleasanton to Europe, Asia and South America.

“This is virtually a year-round responsibility, in working with applicants, family members, schools, government logistics, and then doing it all over again for the next class of students” Lundell said. “Beyond working with our own outbound group, he and his wife Yvonne have hosted seven students in their home.”
