Article on our club's support to St. Mark's School as published by the Punta Gorda Rotary Club.

The Rotary Club of Punta Gorda has partenered with the Rotary Club of Camrose to “adopt” St Mark’s Primary School in the remote village of Otoxha in the Toledo District. Otoxha is a Ketchi Maya village, and its name means winding waters, as the river that runs through the village is full of twists and turns.

The joint venture had all three important partners together: representatives of the two clubs, and leaders of the school and the village, as we met in 2011 to plan the way forward. The Rotary Club of Camrose is exceptional in its dedication and efforts to assist in a well thought-out manner. Some of the things that have been accomplished include books for the students, laptop computers, a new 3 classroom school building, a small solar power system, and soon satellite Internet access.
