Rotary on the Road: JCCC Sustainability Program

November's Rotary on the Road is a tour of some of the sustainability projects at Johnson County Community College. Dr. Jay Antle eads the sustainability program and is Executive Director of the college's Center for Sustainability. The tour will be Wednesday, November 6 at noon. The meeting location is the lobby of Galileo's Pavilion (GP on the map) and the best parking would be Galileo's Garden Garage or the Galileo surface lot on the south side of campus.

Depending on time and weather, among the sites toured will be:
  1. Green Infrastructure Stormwater Project
  2. LEED Platinum Classroom Building with Green Walls (Galileo's Pavilion)
  3. Career Tech Building with Solar Lab/PV on Roof
  4. Campus Farm and Composting Operations

Spotlight on: Ed Coulter
I was born in Salina, KS and have never LEFT the State of Kansas.  My father worked for Lipton Tea for 42 years starting as a salesman on the road in the 40’s and received promotions along the way.  Well… we were “Movin’ On UP”.   First to Topeka, KS and then to Overland Park, KS.  At age 12 and having a brand-new Jr. High to attend in Johnson County, this middle-income boy thought he was super rich.

I was the first born with 3 other siblings in my family.  I am married to a wonderful wife, Sharon for the last 35 years.  We have 3 children, 7 grandchildren and 2 cats named Abbey Cat and Callie Girl.

I retired 4 years ago after 40 years managing physician offices and hospitals my entire career.  My undergraduate degree was a Fine Arts degree in Theatre and Voice from KU.  To legitimize my business career in medicine, I needed a couple of Master Degrees in business and healthcare administration.  I received my residential real estate license in 2016 and am having the most fun I’ve ever had working with Reece Nichols.

I don’t have many hobbies other than singing for weddings, funerals and church choir.  My favorite place to vacation is on the beach or cruising.  My favorite TV shows are Chicago PD, FIRE, MED and Bluebloods.  My favorite food would be a big ol’ Ribeye from Longhorn Steak House.

How about some karaoke Christmas Tunes?
