President Brian Smith has reinstated a plan to focus one each member once through the end of 2021 and into 2022. As we gather the information for future issues, I'll go next. I graduated from Shawnee Mission South (1973), went to college (Ottawa University) and grad school (Emory University, Candler School of Theology). During those years I was also married, had three children, and was divorced. The kids and I then lived through their school years in Iowa, Kansas, Indiana and finally Arkansas. I served two local congregations, was an Associate Regional Minister and Executive Regional Minister. I returned to Kansas City in 1995 to assist my parents as they age in place. Now 91 & 93, my duties have expanded a great deal at home. I enjoy Bible study and singing in the choir at Countryside Christian Church, where Roger Beason is our Senior Minister. I love Oreo cookies and milk... good coffee... red wine with dark chocolate... most things grilled... I've been lifelong Chiefs and Royals fan and expanding to support all KC sports teams. I am available to do pulpit supply, weddings and funerals on the side. Participating in Rotary is my main commitment during this chapter of life other than caregiving. I enjoy genealogy and hope to travel in my next chapter whenever that begins. Sewing is an activity I've enjoyed. I'd love to find a way to provide used sewing machines and teach recipients how to upstyle recycled clothing for themselves and family, or as the beginning of their own business. Barb |
