Power of Parents. This quick program talks about the importance of having consistent conversations with youth about the dangers of alcohol, cannabis, and medication use. We talk about how to have that conversation, what to be prepared for, the mindset to be in, and why it's important to put in the work. The presentation is also accompanied by a handbook that I will bring to the club meeting, we also have it as a digital resource.

Hi Rotarians!
The program year of 2025-2026 has begun, and we are going to do good and have fun as a unique group this year. Wayne London is Presiding through July. Activities this month:
* Regular meeting at Milburn Wednesday July 9, Evan Lite is our speaker. He is a program specialist with MADD. We will also finalize details for the Beer Garden tent at the Mission Citywide Picnic July 12.
* July 12, Mission Citywide Picnic at Broadmoor Park, 6:00 - 9:00 pm
* July 17, Tyler’s House Fundraiser
* July 19, annual Lamar street cleanup. Get those “grabbers” ready!
I’m honored to serve as your President this year. Our new model of leadership embraces a different Presiding member each month. When it is your month it is up to you to choose and plan the programs and activities for the month. I’ll keep the District and International parts in place and support each monthly Presiding Rotarian.

IN HONOR OF GEORGE TAYLOR HESS
I just wanted you to be aware of my dad's death as he was a loyal member of the Shawnee Mission Rotary for many years. I believe he was president, historian and a few other things over the years.
I have attached a copy of his obituary. (Link Below) He will have a celebration of life, Saturday, July 19th at 3 pm at the Village Presbyterian Church.
He was a huge advocate of Rotary and enjoyed his membership and service work with them.
