Mission Restuarant Week
Mission Business Development is once again teaming up with local eateries to help promote their businesses and offer deals on their delicious eats!

If you are a locally owned eatery, please contract us for more details! If you are not an eatery, this message is still important to you! Our goal at MBD is to drive traffic to Mission so all events are important for all businesses.

Please share this event on your social media and tag @missionbusinessdistrict to help drive business. Thank you for all your help in making MBD a success.

Mission Family Picnic - Beer & Wine Garden

Mission Family Picnic – Beer/Wine Garden

Once again, the Shawnee Mission Rotary beer garden was a hit! Selling drinks at the Mission Family Picnic at Broadmoor Park, the club raised funds for Pints for Polio, just in time for World Polio Day on October 24. Following the club's first outing with a beverage tent at the Mission Market in August, this was an improved experience with more sales, wine added to the menu by popular demand, and more good times and community engagement! Thanks to everyone who volunteered!
Visit to Hillcrest Transitional Housing
Our Rotary on the Road in October was a visit to Hillcrest Transitional Housing. We toured the youth building in Kansas City, Kansas and made great connections. This organization is a leader in solving homelessness in the KC Metro. Their process provides full support in a structured environment that teaches self-sufficiency for achieving goals of permanent housing, employment, education, money management and wellbeing.

One key need we identified: In order to save funds, the residents in the program are encouraged to pack their lunches as opposed to getting fast food while they're out working or at school. Hillcrest could use soft-sided lunch bags and ice packs and tumblers/water bottles for the residents. If you are interested in donating any of those items that you have that are in good condition, or can purchase any of those items new, we'd like to gather a few to give to Hillcrest by the end of the month. They currently have need for 8-10, but could use more for future residents if we'd like to do more! Thanks in advance!

Plan Ahead for Rotary
First Wednesday of the Month:  Rotary on the Road

Second Wednesday of the Month:  In person planning session + board meeting @ Milburn. Until we are back up and running, we will use this meeting for fellowship and planning.  We’d like to encourage everyone to attend and participate as we make plans to move forward post Covid.
We will also introduce “Stoney’s Corner”.  Stoney will provide an update on business happenings in the northeast corridor.

Third Wednesday of the Month:  Service project. We are setting aside time each month for a community service project in lieu of a regular meeting. These projects may fall on an evening or weekend.  We plan to announce these as soon as they are scheduled to allow as many as possible to help.

Fourth Wednesday Month:  Guest speaker + lunch in person @ Milburn

Fifth Wednesday if applicable:  Gather for lunch somewhere in Mission or social gathering after work
Because of the holiday in July and some events already on our calendar, we won’t follow the new plan exactly for the first month.
