No meeting this week! Please take a look at the online sign up for the beer gardenat the Mission Picnic On October 9th. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60b094aabad2ea6fb6-mission2

Also please mark October 30th on your calendar for the Harvesters Mobile Food Pantry.

October 13th we will welcome Jason Drummond, CEO of Down Syndrome Initiative
Welcome new member Colleen Schremmer

Colleen is a project manager for a retail bank in Kansas City. Previously, she worked at Black & Veatch and State Street, where she led a team of project managers based in India, primarily focusing on executing business strategy and process improvement projects but now currently focuses on IT projects.

She has a Master's from KU in Communications, and a professional certification in HR (PHR). Through B&V and State Street internal programs, she earned a Six Sigma Green Belt (B&V) and Lean Yellow Belt (SST). Her professional mission is to empower business and professionals to succeed. She has a similar perspective when it comes to community involvement - how can we empower each other and our community to succeed (either in big or small ways)? That more often than not means working together.

Colleen has degrees from both KState and KU, so she is her own house divided. She says she is also terrible at trivia. "This always seems to surprise others and they do not believe me until we play trivia and they realize I am terrible."

Well trivia expert or not, can you name the international service organization that is the most excited to welcome Colleen? What is the Shawnee Mission Rotary Club!

Community Service Opportunity - Walk to End Alzheimer's
The Alzheimer's Association Heart of Amerca Chapter is looking for traffic control assistance for our Kansas City Walk on October 3rd at Corporate Woods in Overland Park.

Corporate Woods, Building #40
Venue Opens: 8:00 am
Ceremony at 9:00 am
Walk begins at 9:05 am

We will be shutting down roads inside corporate woods for the route. One of the biggest tasks our parking volunteers need to enforce is that no cars can be on the route when walkers are walking. They will instead direct traffic to other exits. They will notify cars that are parking in the lots to whether they can exit while the event is going on or if they need to wait until the end, etc.

More information and direction on this volunteer task will be given prior to event day. If you would like to volunteer or want more information, please reach out to Laura Blatter, KC Walk Manager at lcblatter@alz.org.

Thank you for your consideration!

Plan Ahead for Rotary
First Wednesday of the Month:  Rotary on the Road

Second Wednesday of the Month:  In person planning session + board meeting @ Milburn. Until we are back up and running, we will use this meeting for fellowship and planning.  We’d like to encourage everyone to attend and participate as we make plans to move forward post Covid.   We will also introduce “Stoney’s Corner”.  Stoney will provide an update on business happenings in the northeast corridor.

Third Wednesday of the Month:  Service project. We are setting aside time each month for a community service project in lieu of a regular meeting. These projects may fall on an evening or weekend.  We plan to announce these as soon as they are scheduled to allow as many as possible to help.

Fourth Wednesday Month:  Guest speaker + lunch in person @ Milburn

Fifth Wednesday if applicable:  Gather for lunch somewhere in Mission or social gathering after work
Because of the holiday in July and some events already on our calendar, we won’t follow the new plan exactly for the first month.
