The plan is to touch base with each other and share general updates for SMKS Rotary Club.

 

SMKS Rotary:

 

We continue to have great attendance at our Thursday noon district-wide Rotary meetings and this week's meeting is another one you don't want to miss. This week's program is courtesy of the Rotary Club of Topeka (Downtown Topeka Rotary) and the New York Harlem Rotary Club. The Harlem Rotary Club will present their experiences with COVID-19 in New York City. Presentations by their members will include health care workers, a recovered COVID-19 patient and related club service projects.

One of the greatest strengths of Rotary is that we are part of an international community where service and fellowship are essential pillars of our commitment. This is an amazing opportunity to hear from fellow Rotarians from Harlem who have experienced unimaginable challenges and loss, as well as incredible resiliency and strength. Thank you to the Downtown Topeka Rotary Club for pulling this together and inviting the entire Rotary 5710 District to be part of it. 

 

Onge again, if you are not familiar with using Zoom, don't worry. Hop on about 10 minutes early and Public Image Chair Jason Camis will give you a quick overview. Here is a pic of Rotarian Sandi putting to sleep for the summer “FRANKE”, the expresso machine she donated to SM North for their Student Commons area. 

Sandi looked like a Master Mechanic working on a finely tuned engine of a Mercedes Benz!!

When finished cleaning, inspecting, and then reassembling, she tested FRANKE by dropping a small cleaning pellet into the top slot of that stainless steel coffee engine like a quarter into a slot machine. 

As each step in the cleaning process shot liquid, first white then finally clear, out of dual metal exhaust pipes near the bottom and a different step-processing light would suddenly flash ON, Sandi would exclaim a boisterous “Yes! That’s good to see!” 

I kept hoping when the last of 3 lights flashed ON, hundreds of quarters would suddenly come spilling out those dual exhaust tubes instead of water, and Sandi might scream “We’re rich!!!!!! “.

Nope....just  “We’re done.”
