The Club was back out to Growing Futures Early Education Center on Saturday to plant flowers in the boxes that line their playground and parking areas. It is a whole variety of petunias this year. Special thanks to club member Jeff Jennings for purchasing the flowers from Westlake Hardware. Jeff also arrived early and had the flowers all distributed and in place, with the soil prepared before the rest of the volunteers even arrived! Thanks to Wayne and Peggy London for coming back out with mulch the next weekend. Club members will manage the watering through the season on a rotating basis. If you'd like to take a watering shift, just let Emily know! 

When the club went out to Growing Futures Early Education Center on Saturday, May 1 to plant flowers, Kathy McLellan, Volunteer and Development Associate (and friend to the club and fellow flower planter!) brought the vision screening device out to show us. This is the screener that we purchased last year with District Grant funds as well as individual donations and club funds. The screener will allow flexible screening for every child in Growing Futures care - ages 0 to 5. The screener replaces the need for scheduling with an outside provider, and makes home visit screenings possible. It was fun to see. Thanks to all who contributed to this effort.

 

As of January 20 we are recording our meetings. All of our speakers have been very interesting - we just learned how to record, access, and make the recordings available AR smksrotary.org. The password to each is listed. We don't control it. Copy and paste is the easiest way to enter it!
