Board members Sharon Wise and Kiersten Allen gave the history and introduction to the newly formed Louisburg Historical Society. It began in May 2012 under the direction of Heather Wilson, Kiersten, Marcia Cook, Travis Thompson and Joe Hursey, the former curator of the Miami County Historical Museum. (He is now at the Smithsonian)
Their mission is to promote exploration, education and preservation of Louisburg's unique historyThe board of directors meets monthly and includes president Heather Wilson, vice-president Denise Geraman, secretary Jacob Dow, treasurer Kiersten Allen and directors Debbie Seely, Travis Thompson and Sharon Wise. The group has filed Articles of Incorporation, devised By-Laws and a Strategic Plan, filed for 501(c)3 status and acquired a DUNS number.

Their priorities include preparing for the 2018 Sesquicentennial with a celebration and published book on the history of Louisburg, collecting oral histories from senior members of the community and educating the community. The first program was Teresa Bradskey, an American Indian historian. Denise German will open her home, one of the oldest homes in Louisburg and rumored to be haunted, for the group's Holiday Open House on Saturday, December 7 @ 5pm.
