Ray will have some printed off saying Rotary Brockville.
Some clubs organize visits to other clubs ie. Prescott, Kemptville, Gananoque.  Suggestion of getting a group together when other clubs are holding specific events. Discussion followed.  Ray will send emails out to other clubs, and will send out sign-up sheets during meetings.

Introduction of Speaker: Andrew Melchers presented Commanding Officer Lt. Colonel Paul D’Orsonnens.
Mawi, Congo, Afghanistan and South Sudan are some of the international locations that Paul has served in – including helping to disarm child soldiers.
The Brockville Rifles has a good sense of community and partnership. He chose to be a part of the Brockville Rifles because of this. It is celebrating its 100th anniversary and it will be winding up with a New Year’s Eve event.
His family name is Swiss and difficult to pronounce for us.  He comes from a long line of soldiers within his family. Developing disciplined, respectful, highly trained young people is one of their missions. They offer part-time employment (50 part-time positions), training, and this is a good opportunity for people to help their education along, as it helps to subsidize the costs.
A challenge for him is to ensure that the $3.25 million in renovations comes to fruition to ensure the Armouries remains a Heritage building.
There is a lot that goes into training young soldiers – in their manner, their attitudes, their presentation.  They are a different regiment than what people assume – no yelling and ‘shake down’ of soldiers, but getting the best out of them and creating strong, community members.
He spoke of his work in South Sudan during the rainy season to disarm Child soldiers.
The Brockville Rifles encourage everyone to Remember, especially with November 11th quickly approaching.
May be asking in the future for Rotary to sponsor a soldier for the anniversary of VIMY ridge – will have more details in the future.
Thanking Speaker: Bob Barbour
