Paul Harris Fellowship
Paul Harris Fellow recognition was created in memory of Paul Harris, the founder of Rotary as a way to show appreciation for contributions to the Foundation's charitable and educational program. A Paul Harris Fellow is an individual who contributes $1,000 or in whose name that amount is contributed. Every Paul Harris Fellow receives a pin, medallion and a certificate when he or she becomes a Fellow. This identifies the Paul Harris Fellow as an advocate of the Foundation's goals of world peace and international understanding.
The Rotary Clubs of Brockville Paul Harris Fellowship recognition honours an individual and demonstrates significant support for the wonderful work of The Rotary Foundation. It is the highest honour the Rotary Club can bestow upon a person, and represents a combination of fellowship and extraordinary service to the community.

The candidate must be nominated by a Rotarian in good standing as a member of the Rotary Club of Brockville or The Rotary Club of the 1000 Islands. The nominee should hold the same values and ethics in line with those of Rotary members as defined by the Object of Rotary and the Four-way test. Consideration will be given to nominees within the community of the City of Brockville and Elizabethtown-Kitley Township and demonstrated activity as defined within Rotary's four Avenues of Service.
The Object of Rotary
The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:
FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
SECOND. High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each person's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;
THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each person's personal, business, and community life;
FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.
The Four-Way Test
The test, which has been translated into more than 100 languages, asks the following questions:
Of the things we think, say or do:
1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER
FRIENDSHIPS? 4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
Avenues of Service
Based on the Object of Rotary, the Avenues of Service are Rotary's philosophical cornerstone and the foundation on which club activity is based:
Club Service focuses on strengthening fellowship and ensuring the effective functioning of a club or volunteer organization within our community.
Vocational Service encourages individuals to serve others through their vocations and to practice high ethical standards.
Community Service covers the projects and activities a club or volunteer organization that they are a member of in good standing with undertakes to improve life in its community.
International Service encompasses actions taken to expand humanitarian reach around the globe and to promote world understanding and peace.
As the Paul Harris fellowship is given to a citizen in our community that has demonstrated outstanding service to the community through involvement and good citizenship, International Service should not be considered as an essential requirement as a qualification for a proposed recipient although worth noting.
It should be with the understanding that the recipient's demonstrated believe in the Golden Rule as below is applicable for the Paul Harris Fellowship. This rule contends that Society best holds together when equal opportunity is accorded all men in the Natural Resources of this planet.
The Golden Rule: "all things whatsoever ye would that men should do unto you, do ye so do unto them"
To nominate an individual that is a worthy recipient of the Paul Harris Fellowship you may submit a written testament of their accomplishments that would meet the criterion as stated above to any of the members of the Paul Harris Selection Committee.
