Four scholarships of $1,000 each are granted to selected graduating seniors of the four Wicomico County public high schools. Students apply for the awards through the guidance office at their school.  Primary screening is carried out at the school based on criteria provided by the Rotary Club of Salisbury. 
 
Selection of the awardees is performed by the Rotary Club of Salisbury Scholarship Committee.  It is the Rotary’s goal to support individuals who are scholars that exemplifies academic excellence, leadership, involvement in extracurricular activities and service to others.
 
 
The Helen C. Wootton Salisbury Rotary Club Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a senior who demonstrated moral and intellectual qualities necessary to be distinguished in higher education and who demonstrates the need for financial assistance to receive a college education.  This scholarship is donated anonymously in honor of Miss Helen C. Wootton for the many valuable years of service she gave to the educational system of Wicomico County and for her concern for the success of each student she met.
 
A $1,000 scholarship is given to the outstanding vocational student at the Wicomico Applied Technology Center. 
 
The Charles Whitmore Salisbury Rotary Club Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $2,500 is awarded to a female senior who is interested in pursuing a career in engineering.  The scholarship is in honor of Charles Whitmore, an electrical engineer who is remembered for his love of the community and was honored twice as Rotarian of the Year.
 
A scholarship of $1,000 is provided for students seeking the Associate of Applied Science degree at Wor-Wic Community College.  The College’s scholarship committee awards this scholarship to the student(s) who demonstrate a need and represent Rotary ideals in their academic achievements. 
 
Qualified students from the Lower Eastern Shore of Maryland, with emphasis on students from Wicomico County, attending the Salisbury University Perdue School of Business also have a scholarship available to them.
 
The Rotary Club of Salisbury encourages interested students to pursue additional information through their high schools or universities to ensure their qualifications.  The deadline for applications to be received is March 29.
