Six Wicomico County students have been awarded college scholarships totaling $7,500 by the 101 year-old Rotary Club of Salisbury.  The club’s Scholarship Committee, chaired by Freddy Mitchell, reviewed scores of applicants before deciding upon these six outstanding students.

These awards are part of the club’s annual tens of thousands of dollars of donations to individuals and organizations.  Many of these community service projects are funded by the club’s annual raffle that awards a first prize of $10,000.  All club members can be contacted about buying raffle tickets before the October 28, 2021 drawing.

Receiving the $2,500 Charles Whitmore Salisbury Rotary Club Memorial Scholarship that goes to a female student planning to have a career in engineering is Sanai A. Brown, a James M. Bennett High School graduate who will attend the Florida Institute of Technology with a major in mechanical engineering.

These young people are receiving financial assistance through the Helen C. Wooten Rotary Club Memorial Scholarship operated for The Rotary Club of Salisbury through the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore.  This scholarship is donated anonymously in honor of Miss Helen C. Wootton for the many valuable years of service she gave to the educational system of Wicomico County.
