The Rotary Club of Salisbury, in its 104th year of service to our community, in a partnership with the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore, is offering five scholarships of at least $1,000 each to help students pay for their college educations.

Scholarship applications can be found on the Community Foundation‘s scholarship portal, www.cfes.org/scholarships with instructions and deadlines.  All applications are subject to verification by the guidance department of student’s home school. Applications are due no later than April 1.  Once the schools confirm eligibility, recipients are selected by the Rotary Club of Salisbury Scholarship Committee.

One female student enrolled in either a public or private school in Wicomico County who has been accepted to a college engineering program may qualify for the $2,500 Charles Whitmore Scholarship, named after a Rotary Club of Salisbury deceased member. Additional qualifications include graduating with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, exhibiting strong moral character, and having an established spirit of cooperation with fellow students and faculty. Since its inception a few years ago, $7,500 have been awarded.

The club also offers the Helen C. Wootton Memorial Scholarship to graduating seniors from each of the government high schools in Wicomico County.  Qualifications include participation in extracurricular activities, planned immediate continuation of education following high school, leadership, and demonstrated interest in service to others.  Each scholarship is valued at $1,000.  These scholarships are awarded in honor of Miss Helen C. Wootton for the many valuable years of service she gave to the educational system of Wicomico County and for her concern for the success of each student she met.  Over the years, more than $38,000 have been awarded.

The Rotary Club of Salisbury is proud to support education opportunities for local students.
