History of Richardson East Rotary Club

About Our Club

The Richardson East Rotary Club was chartered September of 1985.  The original membership of 23 individuals quickly began enriching the local community with volunteerism and Service Projects. The two first service projects were: installation of playground equipment at the YMCA and Leadership Grove on the City Hall property.

Today, with a membership in excess of 40 proud Rotarians, RERC has continued to have an energetic enthusiasm to be involved in service projects. From mentoring children to visiting the elderly, from opening our homes to visiting groups to helping at parades and festivals. From hosting 4-Way Speech competition to delivering youth to destinations, this is just a portion of what RERC does in support of their community.

While realizing the International motto of Rotary, "Service Above Self", RERC members have offered their professional services where most needed. RERC members and their children have traveled to provide dental care to people in impoverished foreign lands. RERC members have been instrumental in the "Books for India" project where countless books were shipped to school children of need. Club members have honored Rotary and served the District in different capacities.

In the 1995 RERC began hosting a Casino Night fund raiser. This successful event has allowed the sponsorship of college scholarships, over $54,000,  to RISD students, nearly $87,000 for International Service projects, and nearly $50,000 for local community service projects along with other charitable causes. The RERC is proud to host the yearly Casino Night event and deeply honored to be able to touch the lives of so many locally and around the world.

It has been a short history, but RERC is prideful of the support it has given to the Rotary Foundation. Since 1985, RERC is always willing to honor the traditions established by Paul Harris and to extol the mottos of "Service Above Self and "They Profit Most Who Serve Best". Richardson East Rotary Club, the standard setter for Service Clubs!
