Kendra Scott Fundraiser - Great Success!

The Kendra Scott Fundraiser benefiting Richardson East Rotary Club's signature project, the all inclusive park, was a great success with over $850 going directly to funding the project. The event took place on Thursday 3/30 between 6pm and 9pm and Kendra donated 20% of the sales as well as provided cupcakes, lemonade & champagne to the patrons. Karen Ellis and Bruce McPherson served as hosts together with Kendra and had a busy but fun time throughout the evening.

What do you get when a handful of young leaders put their heads together and “dream big?” Apparently, you get a 14-city, 2,400-mile road trip that provides 2,500 hours of service by more than 500 volunteers. The Connecting for Good Tour of the American West Coast was organized by San Francisco Rotary member Danielle Lallement, and inspired by brainstorming that took place at a Young Professionals Summit in 2014. March Board Meeting Summary: Board meeting called to order at 6;10pm and adjourned at 7:45 pm by President Bill Zeigler. February Board meeting minutes were unanimously approved

Treasury Ted Ellis:

The treasury report was submitted with no objections.

Community Builder recognition to be awarded to Karen Ellis

President Nominee/Membership Karen Ellis:

Recognized Richard Linn as new club member.

March 22, 2017, Karen facilitated the Affinity Diagram exercise for all club members. Objective was to provide a platform for voices/opinions in the club to be heard.

Past President, Bruce MacPherson;

Kendra Scott Fundraiser – is being held on Thursday, March 30th at 6PM – 9PM. Board is requesting strong member participation and also encouraging members to bring a friend. 20% of the proceeds raised will go to the Signature Project playground.

The Community Picnic is being held on Saturday, June 17, 2017.

New Business:

Board unanimously approved supporting the Chamber / Rotary Partnership – President invited all club members to attend the City Council forum. Box lunches will be served (NOTE: Fee will be $12 as of March 16, 2017)

In St. Joseph, Michigan, USA, Rotary members have been matching high school students with mentors in their dream careers, providing valuable guidance as they explore their options after graduation. The exposure to community service has led students to start Interact clubs at six local schools, and has cemented the club’s connections with its community. Meet some of the students helped by the program and the members behind it all.
