A History OF Richardson

Stacey Davis – Librarian III, Local History

Stacey Davis has been a reference librarian at the Richardson Public Library for a little over 23 years.  She is the Richardson local history librarian, maintaining the local history archive and serving as the researcher for Richardson history.  She is the library liaison with the Richardson Historical & Genealogical Society and has presented Richardson history programs to community groups throughout the city.

Stacey holds a BBA from Stephen F. Austin State University and a Master of Library Science from the University of North Texas.   Stacey loves to read - especially romantic suspense, cozy mysteries, and books about pandemic illnesses (like the Black Death in 14th century Europe and the 1918 Flu pandemic).

Program Synopsis:

A History of Richardson: From Farm Community to Business Center

The program will give a brief overview of Richardson’s origins using historical photographs, maps and tidbits of information. Richardson has come a long way from the small mid-nineteenth century farming community it was to the bustling hub of industry it is today. Come find out who the first settlers were and learn what it was like in Richardson when it was young.  How has the community changed in the last 170 plus years?

Installation Banquet

The Richardson East Rotary Club installation banquet for the Rotary year 2019-2020 was a very special event last night. Karen Ellis, outgoing President, did a marvelous job in recognizing everybody for the incredible achievements during her tenure. Foremost the completion of the Ann Eisemann all-inclusive playground and the scholarships (total of $28,000) awarded to deserving RISD students.

Furthermore Richardson East Rotary Club was awarded with the "Rotary Club of the Year Award" in district 5810 presented in the honor of PDG Bill Nicol by the Rotary Club of Dallas!

As a testament to being a very active club, the Richardson East Rotary Club has grown with 12 new members during the year!!!

Incoming President Bill Alsup stated at his inauguration speech that he "will build on the momentum, to further grow our club and to do more good in the community and the world".

Please enjoy some pictures from the banquet in the photo album photoalbums/2019-2020-installation-banquet
