Sensory Garden workday
In spite of some serious rain last Wednesday, this hardy crew dodged raindrops and spruced up the Ann Eisemann Inclusive Playground and the Sensory Garden! Thanks, David Blanchard, Tom Hummel, Juan Lechuga, Karen Marx and Joe Allinder!

Scholarship recipient Safwaan Chaudhry
Meet Safwaan Chaudhry one of our scholarship recipients in 2019.

I am Safwaan Chaudhry, a 2019 graduate from Richardson High School.  I am going to be attending the University of Texas at Dallas as a Terry Foundation Scholar.  I am going to majoring in biomedical engineering, and pursuing a triple minor in philosophy, theology, and business management.  During my time at Richardson High School I was the Student Council President, Interact/Key Club Chief Financial Officer, Muslim Student Association Historian, and served as a Peer Helper.  Outside of school I am a Boy Scout and have served in a number of different leadership positions such as Senior Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Troop Guide, Patrol Leader, and Quartermaster.  Furthermore, under the Boy Scouts of America I have served as senior staff in a number of leadership trainings.  I can’t wait to see what comes next and am grateful to RERC for providing me with a scholarship.

Scholarship recipient Jasmine Tran
Meet Jasmine Tran, one of our scholarship recipients in 2019.
My name is Jasmine Tran and I am Berkner High School's Valedictorian for the Class of 2019! At Berkner, I truly wanted to make an impact in my community through my commitments to many organizations. In school, I was National Honor Society President, AP Ambassadors President, Key Club Vice-President, and Mu Alpha Theta Secretary. Additionally, my commitment to music has led me to be the principal violinist in the Symphony Orchestra, as well as a concert pianist outside of school. The joy music brings me is not without the joy it brings others. During high school, I invested my heart and time in organizing and performing in a string quartet for patients in rehabilitation centers and nursing homes all around Richardson to share the universal language of music to those who needed it.

In the fall, I will be attending Texas A&M University at College Station and majoring in Statistics with a minor in Bioinformatics and on the pre-medicine track towards medical school! Ever since I could remember, the medical field had always sparked an interest in me, but it was not until my battle with chronic pain and two reconstruction surgeries that Orthopedic Surgery came to be my career goal! My passion for medicine has granted me the opportunity to observe surgeons in the clinic and the operating room as well as earning a position as a Clinical Research Intern this Summer at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital. My dedication, perseverance, and enthusiasm towards becoming an Orthopedic Surgeon are for one primary goal: To emulate the very surgeons that gave me back my life. After my battle, I could only focus on being that piece of hope for my patients just as my surgeons were that piece of hope for me.

Craig Overstreet proposed for membership
Craig Overstreet has been proposed as a new member by Karen Ellis. Craig is President of Texas Republic Bank Richardson and a recent graduate of LR Class 34.  He lives in Farmersville with his family and was just re-elected to the Farmersville City Council.  He enjoys reading, golf, and hunting.  He has been a member of two other Rotary clubs, the most recent in Rowlett 2010-2013, and has served as president.  He is eager to deepen his ties to Richardson, has a true servant heart, and loves to make a difference in whatever he does.
