Posted on Jul 01, 2016
Duncanville business Gold N Things became the newest business to subscribe to our Flag Program.

Phyllis and John Lambert have a great desire to support education and scholarships for high school students and said these are just a few reasons they put up the flags in front of their business.

Phyllis said she may put another one up, and is willing to help spread the word so that we can increase our scholarship fund!

Thank you both for your commitment to our City of Champions!

Giving is part of his Rotary Legacy

Past President and Past D5810 Assistant Governor Bob Talbot received his fourth Paul Harris Fellow recognition.

It is because of his giving that Rotary International is able to build schools and healthcare centers around the world,
provide clean water in remote areas where there is little or no access, educate people of all ages, bring shelter when
disaster strikes, allow babies and mothers to receive appropriate healthcare, and so much more!

Thank you Bob for being a gift to the world!

The Perfect Streak in Rotary

Posted by Helen Peralta on Sep 21, 2015
It is always nice when Rotarians from other Clubs visit yours.  Dr. Ken Pollard frequents our Club when he is making up a meeting.  He calls Duncanville home, where his wife served as teacher for several years.  In fact, she was my English teacher back in the 80's and is the reason I became a journalist!

Getting to speak with Dr. Pollard one-on-one today is extra special for me because today I learned something very "special" about him.

DRC gives boost to community's Emergency Preparedness Training

Posted by Helen Peralta on Feb 14, 2015

The Rotary Club of Duncanville is proud to once again provide support to the Best Southwest Regional C.E.R.T. Program for its emergency preparedness training programs which are conducted within our communities.  Through a District Grant, our club gave a total of $4,000.00 for community-wide training programs in Duncanville, DeSoto, Cedar Hill, and Lancaster.  Being in our backyards gives us the best viewpoint on how to respond best and quickest to an emergency  The grant allows our Club to train four members as first responders in disaster or catastrophic events where immediate search and rescue, triage, and emergency aid is needed.  Funds are also used for equipment.

Duncanville Outreach Ministries is in the process of expanding their facilities to accommodate more food in order to sever the growing needs of our community. The cost of the project is approximately $41,000. Our club donated $10,000 to the Building Fund. Anita Davis gave us a very informative look at Duncanville Outreach Ministries and how many families in Duncanville they serve. We were given a tour of the facility. Here, Anita is showing some of the seasonal item which are stored. The tour gave us an opportunity to see what a family might receive in the way of groceries. In addition to groceries, Duncanville residents are also able to receive assistance with prescription, rent, utilities and cancer patients receive gasoline card to aid them get to their treatments. We also received a tour of the Duncanville Outreach Ministries Thrift Store. They sell gently used and previously owned household items, books, clothing, shoes and more which have been donated by the community. They also sell "new" items such as toiletries, hair accessories, baby and adult diapers, household cleaning and more.
