Diwali Fest 2022 will be celebrated Saturday, October 22nd from 3:00 p.m. - Midnight at the Rustin Pavilion.

Planned by the Southlake Foundation, the festival will include children's activities and crafts, food vendors, cultural performances, handcrafts, and much more!

The mission of the Diwali at Southlake Town Square Festival of Lights is to celebrate Indian culture and traditions by featuring traditional Indian dance, entertainment, and food from various parts of India,” according to the Southlake Foundation. The nonprofit states its “goal is to create a platform for like-minded people to come together and contribute ... to make our community a better place for us to live in and our generations to enjoy.”

Diwali gets its name from the row (avali) of clay lamps (deepa) that Indians light outside their homes to symbolize the inner light that protects them from spiritual darkness. In India, the Diwali celebration is akin to Christmas and it represents the triumph of good over evil, light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, according to the Southlake Foundation.
