Tracy Herbert came to speak to our Club last Friday imparting her inspirational subject,  “Achieving Audacious Goals While Overcoming Setback.”  She opened up her speech with a beautiful and moving video depicting her celebrated and renowned bike ride across our nation --Tracy rode her bicycle 3,527 miles from Golden Gate Bridge to the Brooklyn Bridge to provide hope and spread awareness about diabetes, a disease she herself has battled since childhood.  The video depicted the exciting conclusion of her bike ride, which was filmed on the Dr. Oz Show.
Tracy provided our club with a wonderful example of bravery, diligence and fearlessness. Tracy courageously rode her bike across the country alone, BY HERSELF, without any following pacers, trekking through oftentimes dangerous and daunting countrysides.  She only had her cell phone for navigation and communication with her husband, which often had no service!!!
Southlake Rotarians had an opportunity to purchase her bestselling books, “Diabetes Tragedy to Triumph: Lessons From 40 Years of Beating the Odds,” and “Ride for Hope: One Woman's Solo 3,527 Mile Bicycle Ride that inspired the Nation.”  To learn more about Tracy go to her website at: wearerotary #peopleofaction #rotaryconnectstheworld
