The Southlake Rotary Club recently donated $2,350 toward disaster relief with Shelter Box.

Founded in 2000, Shelter Box is an international disaster relief charity that provides shelter and aid to families affected by natural disasters through its shelter boxes, according to a media release. Each box weighs 120 pounds and contains a tent, two solar-powered lights, a mosquito net, a water filter, tools, blankets, supplies and outerwear. And thanks to the Southlake Rotary Club, two families will now receive assistance for six months after losing their homes.

“Each year, Shelter Box responds to numerous events in the world,” public relations chair Lynda Warner says. “The Rotary is committed to helping those in need both in our local community and all parts of the world.”
